We have many rights and responsibilities as Digital Citizens in today's society. Despite the fact the the internet is a great place to share thoughts and ideas, responsible digital citizens must ensure that the content they share online is properly credited. When using your own original work, you have the responsibility to claim it and copyright it as our own. In addition, when it comes to using the work of others, you have the responsibility as a digital citizen to give the owners the credited they deserve for creating it. Technology must be used in an appropriate manner, as it is extremely easy to take advantage of the various gifts that technology gives us.
Although copyright laws are highly recognized when it comes to logos and slogans for large corporations, we must respect the copyright laws that apply to technology. Creative Commons is a way to respect these copyright laws by copyrighting your own pictures, videos, and ideas that you have created yourself. This allows for the work that you produce to be claimed as your own, and puts the onis on others to credit the work in your name.
It is extremely important that we educate ourselves and others about the various copyright laws and regulations that are out there. From there, we can develop good online habits, and promote a positive digital environment for all those around us.
